On behalf of the Messenger Leadership Team here in Nashville, I want to pray a blessing
over you this Christmas season: that you would know the simple joy of committing all
things into the hands of Jesus.
We all tend to carry far more than we were ever meant to. This is especially true for those
of us who serve as leaders in Christ’s Church. These days we not only carry so much
personally, but also carry the ‘weight of the times’ – the needs in our nation, the tensions
people are navigating, and the hidden heart tremors that even many believers feel.
But remember what Isaiah said of The Messiah: “The government is on His shoulders.”
His shoulders, not ours. Our shoulders were not designed to carry the burdens of life or
leadership. They were designed to throw the burdens of life onto The Lord.
I recently read, If your shoulders bear the burden, your arms cannot be lifted in praise!
When you throw your cares onto Jesus you’re not being a ‘lightweight’; you’re honoring
Christ’s rulership!
You can pray something like this: “Jesus, You are in authority over my burdens as the
rightful Governor over my life. So I lift up my heart and my arms and declare ‘They’re
all Yours, Lord!’”
Believe it or not, acknowledging that Jesus is the One to carry your load is, perhaps, one
of the greatest acts of worship you can offer Him, because by committing your way to
Him you are recognizing His preeminence.
So, Come, let us adore Him… Adore Him by letting Him carry you!
May you know this simple peace throughout the year,
-Steve Fry
